Leah Abir is a Tel Aviv-based curator and writer in the field of contemporary art. She is the Artistic Director of Arad Center for Contemporary Art and a co-founding editor of Tohu Magazine.
Since 2007 she has been curating exhibitions and organizing art-related events throughout the world, in public and private venues, in public and alternative spaces. Among her previous engagements: Curator of the Haifa Museum of Art, Deputy Curator and Head of Programming at MoBY- Museums of Bat Yam, and as Artistic Consultant for the Artists Studios in Jerusalem, and curator of RawArt Gallery in Tel Aviv. She was the first recipient, in 2011, of the Artist Grant for curators in Israel, and worked as a Curatorial Fellow at the public art organization Creative Time, NYC.
Abir is a graduate of Art History and Advanced Museology studies at Tel Aviv University, and has earned a Masters degree from Haifa University. She published extensively in various publications and catalogues in Israel and around the world, and in recent years taught history and theory of art and curating at various academic institutions, such as Bezalel Academy, Sapir College, and Haifa University.
